Macquarie hosted its third annual Tech conference in Jakarta today with thescope expanded to ASEAN. Twenty-eight presenters and panellists sharedinsights with 160 attendees across start-ups, established players, venturecapital and portfolio investors.
Winning consumer trust was a key theme in e-commerce alongside greaterpressure on turning profitable. In FinTech many ventures are just startingacross P2P lending and digital banking for instance with regulatory changesholding the key to potential rapid adoption.
Impact
Trust and profitability pressure in e-commerce: Presentations fromFacebook, Google, OLX, MAPemall and PropertyGuru were featured, alongwith a panel discussion with Zalora, Nurbaya, OLX and MAPI. Generally thepath to profitability is a difficult one for Indonesian e-commerce companies asthe landscape remains competitive and as Indonesians do not yet havesufficient purchasing power to withstand price increases
