China Nov-15 box office income up 14% y-y, Wanda up 13.5% y-y
China’s box office income in Nov-15 rose 14% y-y to RMB2.7bn, driven by a23% y-y increase in admissions to 82mn, as per EntGroup data (see Fig. 1).
YTD Nov-15 box office reached RMB40bn, up 48% y-y.
In Nov-15, Wanda’s (002739 CH, Reduce) box office reached RMB370mn,up 13.5% y-y, with admissions of 9.72mn, up 14.9% y-y. Wanda’s marketshare increased to 13.9% in Oct-15, from 13.6% in YTD Oct-2015 (14.2% in2014), as Wanda’s new cinema openings are more back-end loaded (seeFig. 2).
October’s top grossing movie was Columbia Pictures’ (SNE US) 007:Spectre, with box office income of RMB535mn, accounting for 20% ofNovember’s total box office.
