The Hong Kong market remained volatile yesterday. The HSI once fell 46 pts, then rallied and hit 25,201. The index eventually closed at 25,122, up 167 pts. The main board turnover was HK$72.37bn.

Mainland developers advanced. CHINA RES LAND (1109) jumped 7.6% to HK$18.18 and became the top gainer of the HSI, after announcing interim net profit growth of 13.4%. CHINA OVERSEAS LAND (688) and SHIMAO PROPERTY (813) climbed 1.3% and 1.9% respectively. GALAXY ENT (27) net profit increased 29% in H1 2014, driving up share price by 3.4% to HK$61.9. Other Macau gaming shares performed well too. SANDS CHINA (1928) and WYNN MACAU (1128) rose 2.1% and 2.9% respectively. CHINA MOBILE (941) retreated after reaching HK$96.5, closing at HK$95.8, down by 0.6%.
