Daily Market Summary
The HSI wavered yesterday, and closed at 22,730, up 148 pts. The market turnover reduced to HK$54.88bn.
TENCENT (700, Temporary Stock Code: 2988) jumped 5.8% to HK$108.8, the steepest gain in the HSI, after announcing better-than-expected Q1 results, and the one to five share split took effect. Other dot-com shares advanced. IGG (8002) and KINGSOFT (3888) surged 9.3% and 6.1% respectively. Anti-China protests continued in Vietnam. FITTEC (2662) and TEXHONG TEXTILE (2678) with factories in Vietnam resumed trading yesterday, slumped 10.5% and 7.5% respectively, while YUE YUEN (551) slid 0.5%. Mainland developers retreated. CHINA RES LAND (1109) fell 2.7% to HK$15.58 and became the top loser of the HSI. CHINA OVERSEAS LAND (688) and SHIMAO PROPERTY (813) fell 1.3% and 3.2%.
